We approach the annual celebrations of the life and return to Allah of the Holy Prophet Mohammed (may God's
Peace be with him).
On this auspicious occasion we offer our humble respects to the 'seal of the Prophets' through whom the eternal
light of Allah shone with brightness and clarity not seen before or since - though in truth what is 'before' and
'since' in front of his time transcending greatness.
Celebrations of the 'Urs of Dr Zahurul Hassan Sharib (2002) in Southampton
Though we have not yet heard from Ajmer I can report that there were celebrations for the 'urs of Zahur Mian
held in Southampton.
Fatiha was performed in Zahuri Manzil which was crowded beyond capacity. In addition to many many well
wishers from Southampton, Doctor Hassan (Hassan bhai) and his wife and son attended. Ijlal's son, Minhaj, and
Nazu's mother also accompanied them. They came despite driving rain and high winds.
Of course we also said prayers for the soul of Ijlal Siddiqi.
After the Fatiha we adjourned to a nearby hall where the ladies were waiting with delicious food.
During the evening we played some video tapes of the 'urs of Khawaja Saheb. Jamil made a short speech and
then we were treated to some fine high quality, live, harp music by Mikail Clarke.
Preparing all the food was mainly the responsibility of Farhana, and she, with help from some friends, as ever
worked indefatigably to ensure that all the guests were satisfied - and for that we pray that she and those
helping her, may be duly rewarded. Rizwan Siddiqi and Sharjil also helped in all the preparation and we hope
they to will be rewarded by Zahurmian's blessings accordingly.
The 'Urus (Festival) of Hazrat Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi
(May Allah ever bless him)
December 10th -17th 2001
The festival celebrations of the death anniversary of Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi in Konya attracted as ever
throngs of people from around the world to enjoy his hospitality and to receive the blessings of the saint so
beloved of God.
The main Sema performances took place in the large sports stadium about three kilometers from the saints
shrine. The usual programmes were a little altered as the festival coincided with the end of Ramadan and the
celebration of Eid (Bayram).
A fuller report will be put up as an article on the main site soon.
As well as this there were lectures, and many private events incorporating Zhikr and the Mevlevi whirling and of
course, music, music, music!
The 'Urus is an occasion for informal meetings and contacts that frequently seem to resonate in importance in
the heart well beyond their brevity.
People from so many countries (there were more than 300 people from Iran alone, 60 from Bulgaria) had a
chance to share the culture of love and joy in various ways that reverberate from the intense love of Mevlana.
The Turkish people of Konya (Konyadan) show their gracious hospitality in so many ways that one can hardly
thank them enough for the grace and culture, civility and good manners.

The Urs of Khawaja Muinuddin Hasan Chishti
(September 19th to September 30th 2001)
The Urs was a splendid event attended by up to half a million people from India and around the world.
Jamiluddin Morris Zahuri and Qamaruddin Corrado both members of the web site had the honour to attend. It is
evidence of the powerful presence of the great Chishti saint that despite the surrounding atmosphere of gloom
and tension on the international scene the overpowering Love of the great saint dispelled this gloom for those
attending and many were the blessings showered on the devotees by Khawaja Gharib Nawaz.
As usual there was a full programme of nightly Qwaal recitals, the ritual cleansing of the shrine and Quranic
recital., and a magnificent Mushaira (poetry recital) was also held. On the night of the 5th there was a
programme of Qwaali at Sharib House. Langar was distributed to the poor throughout the Urs.
